Iran 11-month export update

Iran exported 17.5Mt  of cement and clinker in the first 11 months of the current Iranian fiscal year (21 March  2014-19 February 2015), according to the industry's association. Secretary of Iran's Cement Industry Employers Association, Abdolreza Sheikhan said that 61Mt of cement and 64Mt of clinker were produced in the mentioned period, Iran’s ILNA news agency reported earlier this week. Tunisia: Bizerte cuts cement price

Ciment de Bizerte is lowering its whole-sale cement price from MAD149.9/t to MAD147.9/t for bagged cement while bulk cement will cost MAD127.4/t to MAD130.4/t. Earlier Carthage Cement had announced a drop in its prices. Ciment de Bizerte forecasts a production of 1Mt in 2015 as the producer noted it was running at full capacity since the start of the year after the renovation of one of its kilns to increase capacity to 1.2Mta.

Vietnam monthly sales remain flat

Vietnam’s cement sales remained flat at 5.87Mt in January compared to the month before, the Ministry of Construction said on its website Tuesday. Of the sum, 4.37Mt were sold in the domestic market, while 1.5Mt were exported. Cimpor sales rise 6% in 2014

Cimpor’s turnover eased by 0.8 per cent in 2014 to EUR2603.7m while the EBITDA declined by 6.7 per cent to EUR645.6m. The trading profit emerged 7.9 per cent lower at EUR448.8 and the net financial charge declined by 8.8 per cent to EUR371.4m, giving a pre-tax profit 3.5 per cent lower at EUR77.3m and at the net attributable level there was a swing from a loss of EUR19.4m to a profit of EUR27.2m. Pakistan cement sales are expected to rise by six per cent in the first eight months of the current fiscal, The Express Tribune reported citing provisional data compiled by Topline Securities. Shree commissions cement mill at Chhattisgarh, India

Shree Cement has commissioned a 2.6Mta cement mill at Baloda Bazar near Raipur in Chhattisgarh, India, on 24 February 2015, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange. Shree Cement’s eight cement plants in Rajasthan and one grinding unit in Uttrakhand have an aggregate capacity of 13.5Mta.

Northern Cement Jordan to install new line

Saudi Arabia's Northern Cement Co said Thursday that Jordan-based Northern Cement-Jordan, in which it holds 99.35 per cent, has decided to install an additional clinker production line. In preparation for the expansion project, the company will carry out feasibility and environmental studies, the Saudi firm said, without disclosing any financial details. Northern Cement Co booked a net profit of SAR234.3m (USD$62.5m) in 2014, almost unchanged from SAR234.6m a year ago.

Russian demand expected to fall 15% YoY

Russian cement demand is expected to decline by 15 per cent this year on the back of a reduction in housing and infrastructure development, according to forecasts by CMPRO. As the Bolivian cement market surged 24 per cent YoY in 2H14, the domestic cement industry was able to increase output by 15 per cent. However, much has changed as the sector invested in new plants and pushed up production to improve the supply-demand balance.
