Holcim said on Monday it would not comment on press reports about shareholder reactions to the terms of its planned merger with Lafarge. Titan's turnover improved by 2.7 per cent in 2014 to EUR1158.4m but the EBITDA emerged 2.6 per cent lower at EUR181.6m. Bamburi Cement pretax profit grows by 5.5%

Bamburi Cement of Kenya yesterday announced a 5.5 per cent increase in pretax profit from KES5.5bn (US$1.8bn) to KES5.8bn in its full-year results for 2014. Total cement shipments over the first eight months of the current Pakistan fiscal (July-February 2015) rose eight per cent YoY, according to data by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers’ Association. Yanbu Cement Company (YCC), one of Saudi Arabia’s leading cement companies and a major player in the western region of the kingdom, has signed a contract for the establishment of a 34MW waste heat recovery (WHR) power plant at its cement plant located north of Yanbu town. SCG Indonesia, part of SCG Cement is set to launch operations of its first cement plant in Indonesia during the third quarter of the year. Slovenian producer Lafarge Cement said on Wednesday that the country’s environment inspectorate has ordered the plant to suspend operations for lacking environmental permits. The inspectorate acted following a recent decision of the European Commission to refer Slovenia to the European Court of Justice for failing to issue an industrial permit to a major cement factory. Semen Indonesia is targeting a 2015 profit of IDR5.93trn (US$456m), up from IDR5.56trn in 2014, the Kontan newspaper reported, quoting Ahyanizzaman, Semen Indonesia's finance director.
