Vicem sales exceed full-year target

State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) sales rose by 3.2 per cent from a year ago and exceeded the year’s target by 5.7 per cent boosted by higher exports. For the full year, the country’s leading cement producer sold approximately 24.64Mt of cement and clinker. Saudi Cement Co 4Q net profit up 8.91%

Saudi Cement Co has posted a 8.91 per cent rise in fourth-quarter net profit to SAR269m (US$71.7m) from SAR247m and 16 per cent QoQ from SAR232m. The YoY rise in fourth-quarter net earnings was attributed to higher sales due to improved local demand. Tajikistan’s Ministry of Industry and New Technologies has said that six new cement plants will be put into operation in Tajikistan in 2015 and 2016, according to reports by Avesta news agency. Saudi monthly cement sales up 17% YoY

Saudi Arabian cement sales in December 2014 rose 17 per cent YoY to 5.59Mt from 4.79Mt in the same month of the year before, latest statistics published by domestic producer Yamama Cement Co reveal. Lucky Cement Ltd's Board of Directors has approved the investment of around PKR27bn (US$268.4m) to set up a 660MW coal-based power plant in Karachi, Pakistan. Nepal-based producer Ghorahai Cement Industry (GCI) has halted output at its cement plant in the Dang district as protests by tipper operators disrupt the flow of production.
