Spain: November demand up, 2014 largely stable

Cement consumption in Spain rose 2.7 per cent in November to 902,312t, according to the latest data of Oficemen. The November data take domestic consumption in the first 11 months of 2014 to 10,009,922t, slipping by 0.3 per cent on the previous year’s figure. Egypt: Beni Suef signs bank loan for coal mill

Beni Suef Cement has signed a loan contract with a bank for a coal mill, according to a bourse statement. The Egyptian cement producer said the loan consisted of EGP100m (US$14m) for the planned mill, but did not specify the bank. Over the first nine months of the year, parent company Titan Cement said the severe fuel shortage has had a very damaging effect on production and led to clinker imports to supply some customer needs.

Portland and blended cement shipments in the US and Puerto Rico reached 75.8Mt in the first 10 months of the year, preliminary figures from the US Geological Survey show. Peru: November dispatches up 3.6%

Peru’s November cement dispatches remained stable MoM at 928,981t, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. However, YoY figures show a 3.6 per cent rise. Production increased 2.8 per cent from 945,992t in October to 972,529t in November. November exports reached 26,625t of cement, up 14.6 per cent YoY, and 27,501t of clinker (from a zero base in 2013. Pakistan cement producers have reduced prices by PKR5-23/bag, passing on the cut in the prices of petroleum products and coal, according to a recent market survey. Angola to ban cement imports in 2015

Angola has banned the import of cement in 2015 with the country having achieved self-sufficiency in terms of cement production but has set a quota of 150,000t for three outer-lying provinces, the minister for construction said on Monday.
