Eurocement’s Ukraine operations see further market growth

Plants operating under the Eurocement-Ukraina network produced more than 1.2Mt of cement in the first nine months of 2012. More than 1.22Mt of cement have been sold in the reporting period. According to VV Gorgolyuk, CEO of Eurocement-Ukraina, results during the period indicate that the potential for further market growth and the strengthening of leadership position in the market of the plants included in Eurocement-Ukraina still have not been exhausted.

JK Cement signs MoU for new plant, India

JK Cement has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Madhya Pradesh to set up a cement plant in the Panna district of the central Indian state. The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and JK Group officials, official sources said, according to reports in the Times of India.

UltraTech second quarter profit surges, India

India’s largest cement producer UltraTech reported a 97 per cent rise in standalone profit to INR5.5bn (US$102m) for the second quarter of the current fiscal FY12-13 but higher input costs continue to impede the domestic industry. Mozambique prices expected to fall

Mozambique’s minister of industry and trade Armando Inroga expects cement prices will fall by year-end as production stabilises. Further reductions are expected next year as competition increases with new facilities coming on-stream. In the capital Maputo prices have climbed from MZN215/50kg bag (US$7.5) to MZN240 (US$8.3). Iran forecast to produce 75Mt cement by year-end

Iran is projected to produce 75Mt of cement by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2013), according to local news reports. ISNA quoted Iranian deputy industry minister, Vajihollah Jafari, as saying that production capacity will be 86Mt by the end of the year. Iran exported over 6.8Mt of cement during the first six months of the current (Iranian) year.

Colombia’s Cementos Argos' third quarter operating revenues reached COP3.2bn as the cement company sold 8.2Mt of cement and 6.4Mm3 of concrete in Colombia, the Caribbean and the USA. The latest cement sales figures coming out of Spain offer little, if any, hope for the country’s cement producers that business may be picking up. Argentine shipments see MoM gains

In September 2012, Argentina shipments (including exports) reached 907,186t, representing 5.4 per cent increase compared to August. However, compared to September last year, shipments fell 17.8 per cent. Domestic consumption reached 889,649t, representing a rise of 5.8 per cent from the previous month. FLSmidth secures funding for R&D investments

FLSmidth has signed a loan agreement totalling EUR130m with the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB).
