Oman Cement Company’s profit after tax increased 32.5 per cent to OMR12.859m (US$33.4m) in the first nine months of the year against net earnings of OMR9.703m during the same period last year. India Cements is planning work on a brownfield expansion to add over 3Mta at two of its cement plants in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Dalavoi plant, in the Ariyalur district, the company plans to construct a new line that will add over 2.55Mta to the existing 2.16Mta capacity, according to reports by Business Line India. Pakistan cement exports in the first quarter of the current fiscal rose in value terms YoY but in quantity terms volumes are still declining, according to data from Pakistan’s Bureau of Statistics. Siam Cement Pcl has doubled its forecast for cement sales growth this year. Lehigh Cement gets green light for conveyor project, USA

Lehigh Cement Co has been given approval to construct a 4.4 mile long underground conveyor system from the company's quarry to the plant in Union Bridge, Maryland, USA. The board of the Carroll County Commissioners unanimously approved a zoning amendment enabling the company to proceed with the project. The conveyor will transport about 12,000tpd of stone from the company’s New Windsor quarry to the plant. Lehigh says the conveyor will be 3m to 20m underground.

Philippine nine-month cement sales surge

Philippine cement sales increased 20 per cent in the first nine months of 2012, the first time such a high growth rate has been achieved for nearly 20 years. Bolivian cement sales continued their upward trend with deliveries to September increasing 8.52 per cent to more than 2Mt, according to the Bolivian Institute of Cement and Concrete (IBCH).
