Tehran plans to invest US$500m in the construction of a cement factory in Tajikistan, a source at Iran’s embassy in Dushanbe announced on Wednesday, reports the Fars News Agency. Cement prices in Maharashtra have been increased by INR10 per 50kg bag (US$0.2) in the wake of a spike in demand. Industry officials feel that the rise in price would soon be reflected in the Northern market though similar chances are remote in Southern and Eastern markets. ACC’s November sales rise 2% to 1.92Mt

ACC Ltd today reported a marginal two per cent rise in December sales to 1.92Mt from 1.88Mt in the same month last year. Production of the company, in which Holcim holds the majority stake, also increased to 1.91Mtin the last month of 2010 against 1.86Mt in December, 2009, ACC Ltd said in a statement. During 2010, total cement sales of the company, however, decreased to 21.17Mt  from 21.36Mt during the entire 2009. Production also dipped to 21.21Mt from 21.38Mt in 2009.

Andhra Pradesh to see significant capacity additions

A call has gone out for the Commerce and Industry Ministry to prevent a 30 per cent increase in cement price in Bahrain. It followed a closed meeting held yesterday between Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) chairman Dr Essam Fakhro and Commerce and Industry Minister Dr Hassan Fakhro. East African Portland Cement Company (EAPCC) will next month swap its expensive yen-dominated loans for dollars and convert to a coal driven plant in efforts to cut cost and return to profitability in 2011.
