Argentina’s construction activity rose 17.2% in November from the same month a year earlier in seasonally adjusted terms, the national statistics agency, Indec, reported Wednesday. Construction activity in November increased 3.3% from October in seasonally adjusted terms, Indec said. Ciments de Bizerte to upgrade clinker production

Tunisian “Ciments de Bizerte” a state-owned entity has signed a contract with Polysius France to upgrade its second clinker line. This capacity upgrade will take two years to complete from the date of signing the contract, said a spokesman. Ciments de Bizerte is also updating its business plan for publication in January 2011.

Italian police seize cement assets

Anti-mafia police in the southern Italian city of Reggio Calabria on have seized assets worth Euro 4.5 million  from Giacobbe Vincenzo, the owner of a local cement-making company. The assets included a two-storey villa, several cars, land, investments and factory buildings, police said. Cement industry reports higher gross margin

The Chinese cement industry posted gross margin of 16 per cent and net profit margin of 7.83 percent in the first 11 months of 2010. Gross margin in the first eight months was 14.9 per cent. The Nigerian Railways Corporation (NRC), in partnership with Larfage Cement Nigeria, has commenced cement haulage from its plant at Ewekoro to depots in Ijoko, Ogun and Agege, Lagos State on 23 December. The Fijian Ministry of Lands and Mineral resources has just formalised the 99 year lease agreement for the Chinese cement factory to be set up in Veisari Lami.
