Pretoria Portland Cement has launched the Ordinary Portland Cement as part of diversification following the completion of the US$20 million refurbishment and upgrading of its Collen Bawn plant.

Ambuja Cements Ltd said Tuesday said that production and dispatches from its north India plants have been stopped on account of a prolonged transporters’ strike. Briones-linked group, Cementos Bio Bio, has partnered Brazilian firm Votorantim Cimentos to underwrite a capital increase in the Peruvian company Cempor SA and seal its entry into that market.

Saima Industry to put new line into operation, China

Ningxia Saima Industry put its 2Mta line in Baiyin city, Gansu province, into operations on November 9.

The production line costs CNY600m an amount invested by its parent company, China National Materials Group. At present, Saima Industry annual cement production capacity totals 7Mt. Sinoma plans to invest over CNY 5bn in Gansu province by 2013.
