The UAE is the third largest Arab producer of cement and production in the region could hit 300Mta  in the coming years, it was reported on Sunday. Indonesia-based cement producer PT Semen Bosowa said it will float 20 per cent of its shares in initial public offering (IPO) next year when it plans to expand its production capacity. The capacity expansion will increase the share price, Aksa Mahmud, the founder and owner of the company said. Microbes to cement cracks in concrete

UK Scientists have developed a bacteria that can cement cracks in concrete structures by producing a special glue. The genetically-modified microbe has been programmed to swim down fine cracks in the concrete.
