Anhui Conch Cement Co Ltd announced that its controlling shareholder Anhui Conch Group has raised its shareholding in the company to 36.48%, sources reported. HeidelbergCement, said third-quarter profit more than doubled as sales rose and cost cuts took hold. Net income rose to EUR322m from EUR149m a year earlier, the company, based in HeidelbergCement, said in a statement today. Vicat sees improvement over nine months of 2010

Vicat’s turnover for the first nine months of the year improved by 5.9% to EUR1528m, which represents an underlying advance of just 0.5%.  The gearing level increased from 35.9% a year earlier to 40.6% at the end of September.  This increase reflects the acquisition of Bharathi Cement in India at the beginning of May.  The turnover in cement rose by 8.8% to EUR784m, with cement deliveries increasing by 10.7% to 12.12Mt.  The French turnover declined by 0.9% over the nine months to €635m.  ...

Cimpor opens new Chinese facility

Cimpor has opened its biggest cement factory Wednesday in China doubling its production capacity in the country, the group said in a stamen issued in Lisbon.

Cimpor Zaozhuang has a cement production capacity of 2Mta, the statement said. The factory, the group’s second in China after the one in Shandong, is located in Zaozhuang.

Jefferies reduces Holcim’s full-year EBITDA estimates

Due to its concerns about the shorter-term outlook in India, analysts at Jefferies International are reducing its operating EBITDA estimates for Holcim by 4% for this year and by 6% for next year. Pakistan’s cement exports has increased by 52 per cent to reach 0.94Mt in the month of October 2010 compared to 0.62Mt during the previous month, latest figures released by All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) showed Thursday.

Gujarat Sidhee Cement  reported the loss for the quarter ended September 2010 has widened.  During the quarter, the loss of the company increased to INR129.24m compared with a loss of INR58.41m in the same quarter last year.
