After two years, Chile’s Cementos Bío Bío and its Brazilian partner Votorantim have successfully obtained all permits to build their first plant in Peru, representing an investment of US$160m. Nyumba Ya Akiba (NYA), a joint venture between Pakistan-based Lucky Cement and the Rawji Group of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is set to break ground on a new 1.2Mta integrated works at the end of next month. Flour Mills of Nigeria plans to borrow between US$400m-500m to construct a new cement plant which will double its existing 2.5Mta capacity, its chief finance officer said.
