Exports from Vietnam decline due COVID-19 pandemic

Vietnam exported 7.5Mt of cement and clinker, to a value of US$291m, in the first quarter of this year, said the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The lower volume has been attributed to the coronavirus pandemic. Armenia’s National Assembly passed at the first reading the amendments to extend the validity of the state duty set on cement imports until 31 December 2020. Gazakh Cement Plant plans to significantly increase export sales from Azerbaijan to neighbouring countries such as Georgia in 2020, according to Trend. Clinker imports into Bangladesh up 4%

The import of clinker into Bangladesh has increased by 3.6 per cent in the first seven months of the FY19-20, according to data released by the Central Bank of Bangladesh. Clinker volumes to a value of US$554.8m were imported during this period, a significant increase when compared with 7MFY18-19 when the value of clinker imports reached US$535.3m. Ukraine cement industry increases output after import antidumping duties

Ukraine’s cement production advanced 10.6 per cent after anti-dumping duties on cement imports were introduced, according to Ukrcement Executive Director, Roman Skilskyi. “After Ukraine introduced antidumping duties in May 2019, cement companies increased the production output of cement clinker by 10.6 per cent as of August 2019 compared to August 2018,” Mr Skilskyi said. The export of cement/clinker from Pakistan during the first eight months of FY19-20, saw a fall of 5.80 per cent in terms of value but record a growth of 6.45 per cent compared to 8MFY18-19, says data released by Federal Bureau of Statistics. A general cargo ship by the name of Duban, loaded with some 1500t of cement, sank 13nm off of the coast of Oaxaca, southern Mexican state on Pacific coast, in the afternoon of 12 March, while en route to Manzanillo.
