Paraguayan companies import increasing cement volumes

Several companies in Paraguay have increased the volume of cement imports from 1000tpm to 6000tpd due to the cement supply shortage in the Latin American country, according to ABC Color. Bangladesh’s government has reduced the rate of advance income tax (AIT) on the import of cement raw materials from five to three per cent, according to The Financial Express. Cement and clinker exports from Indonesia rose 15.4 per cent to 648,354t in November 2019, according to figures published by Semen Indonesia. In November 2018 exports totalled 561,950t. Exports from Pakistan during July-November 2019 witnessed a growth of 4.8 per cent against the same period of 2018, said Pakistan Bureau of Statistic (PBS). Vietnam exported 3.58Mt of cement in October at a value of US$141.62m, representing an increase of 24.9 per cent and 17 per cent YoY, respectively, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs. Imports of clinker and cement into Bangladesh fell from US$776m in FY17-18 to US$643m, according to the FY18-19 Financial Survey, released by the country's Ministry of Finance. Bangladesh's cement industry has earned an export revenue of US$4.08m during July-November 2019, compared to US$4.92m earned in same period last year. This translates a fall of 17.1 per cent YoY. Belarusian cement exporters plan to switch their export volumes from Ukraine to the EU market, according to the country’s Architecture and Construction Minister, Dmitry Mikulenok.
