Peru’s overall cement sales in February fell 4.9 per cent to 334,171t from the 351,255t sold in the same month last year, the National Association of Cement Producers, or Asocem, said Tuesday. In January, overall cement sales totaled 366,035t. Cementos Lima SA sold 170,001t of cement in February, which includes 33,450t sold for export in the month, the association said. In the first two months of the year, overall cement sales totaled 733,656t, a 6.5 per cent increase from the 688,808t sold in the same period a year before, the association said.
Peru’s construction sector expanded by 4.74 per cent in January compared to January 2004, the government’s statistics agency, INEI, said in a separate report on gross domestic product.
