Pakistani cement exports during the first seven months of current financial year, July 2017-January 2018, recorded a fall of 15.4 per cent in volume and 18.7 per cent by value in dollars, says data released by Pakistan's Federal Bureau of Statistics.

Pakistan exported 2.71Mt of cement and earned export revenue of US$136.46m between July 2017-January 2018, compared to 3.21Mt at US$167.9m in corresponding months of last fiscal year. Volumes fell by 15.4 per cent and in terms of dollar value, by 18.7 per cent.

However, in January 2018 alone, the country exported 357,363t of cement at US$17.88m, compared with 293,522t at US$14.54m in December 2017. This is a MoM rise of 21.8 per cent in terms of quantity and 22.9 per cent by value in dollars. Compared with January 2017 (410,025t at US$22.27m), exports fell 12.8 per cent in volume and 19.7 per cent by value in dollars.

During July 2017-January 2018, Pakistan exported 1.31Mt of cement to Afghanistan and recorded a volume fall of 0.1 per cent. Similarly, exports to India fell by 9.7 per cent to 564,841t and to the rest of the world by over 37 per cent.
