Tajikistan’s Mohir Cement Co has announced plans to construct a new 0.6Mta cement plant in Jaloliddin Balkhi district, Khatlon. An estimated US$30m is expected to be spent on construction, according to the company’s draft investment agreement with the government of Tajikistan.
All equipment, transport vehicles and materials imported by the investor for the project are reportedly exempt from customs duties and value-added tax.
The company is also currently working with Chinese investors to produce cement at its 1.2Mta Chungtsai Mohir Cement joint venture, which began operations in Yavan, Khatlon, in 2016.
