Argentine cement demand remained largely stable in August 2018 as it reached 1.115Mt when compared with 1.122Mt in August 2017, according to the latest data from AFCP, the country’s cement association. Domestic shipments stood firm at around 1.113Mt in August 2018 while imports dropped from 9194t in August 2017 to 2228t in August 2018. Loma Negra reports its 2Q18 net revenue increased 37.2 per cent to ARS4.757bn (US$169.4m) in 2Q18, from ARS3.467bn in the comparable quarter last year. Argentina’s cement market contracted by 6.3 per cent in July 2018 when compared with the previous year, according to the country cement association, AFCP. Domestic consumption fell from 1,016,589t in July 2017 to 952,220t one year later. Nationwide dispatches by Argentine producers declined to 949,680t fro 1,007,897t, down 5.8 per cent YoY. Argentina’s cement market contracted by 3.5 per cent to 970,978t in June 2018 from 1.007Mt in June 2017, according to the latest data from AFCP, the country’s cement association. Argentine cement consumption decreased by 4.4 per cent to 924,979t in May 2018, according to AFCP, the country’s cement association. When compared with the previous month, demand contracted by 3.5 per cent from 958,184t in April. Argentina’s cement market expanded by 13.5 per cent in April to 958,241t  when compared with April 2017, but fell 12.2 per cent MoM, according to the country’s cement producers’ association, AFCP.This demand was met by 953,081t of domestic output and 5160t of imports. Argentina-based producer Loma Negra reported a 41.6 per cent rise in net revenues in the first quarter of 2018 to ARS4534m (US$230m) as the company’s combined cement, masonry and lime sales volumes in Argentina increased 9.5 per cent YoY and prices were favourable. Cement consumption in Argentina increased 6.2 per cent in March 2018 to 1,091,121t from 1,027,094t in March 2017, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP.
