Holcim Argentina to invest US$120m in Malagueño

Holcim Argentina has announced a US$120m investment to raise cement capacity at its Malagueño plant by 45 per cent. The expansion project includes the reconstruction of a complete clinker line and a new cement mill as well as the refurbishment of the dispatch lines. InterCement-owned Loma Negra will invest US$350m in a brownfield expansion of its L'Amali plant in Olavarría, Buenos Aires province, Argentina, the company announced in a meeting with the President of Argentina, Mauricio Macri. The Argentine cement market expanded 16.5 per cent in November 2017 with consumption increasing to 1,179,763t from 1,013,083t, according to the latest data from the country’s cement producers' association, AFCP. In October Argentina cement producers delivered 1,150,386t of cement, including exports, according to the Argentine cement producers association, AFCP. This represents a two per cent rise MoM and 23.2 per cent YoY. Of this total, domestic deliveries stood at 1,141,190t, up 23.3 per cent YoY, while exports increased 14.5 per cent YoY to 9196t. Argentina’s cement producers delivered 1,121,311t of cement in September 2017, up 12.6 per cent YoY and 0.8 per cent MoM, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. Argentina's Loma Negra the announced terms for its IPO on Thursday. The company is planning a global offering and intends to list ADSs on the NYSE and ordinary shares on the Bolsas y Mercados Argentinos (BYMA) under the symbol LOMA.
