The Argentine cement demand increased by 9.6 per cent YoY in April 2022 to reach 1,039,320t, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. In April 2021 cement’s consumption stood at 947,965t. All cement sold in the country was supplied by domestic producers with no imports reported. Argentina’s cement demand increased 7.5 per cent YoY to 1,047,194t in March 2022 when compared with March 2021, when consumption reached 974,347t, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. Holcim Argentina warns of gas shortage stopping kilns over winter

Holcim Argentina’s CEO, Christian Dedeu, has warned that clinker production at its plants could come to a halt as he has no guarantee that there will be gas to fire the kilns this coming winter (June-August 2022). “We do not have guaranteed gas for the winter, which puts cement production at risk. Geocycle to double capacity at Córdoba RDF facility

Holcim subsidiary Geocycle and the Municipality of Córdoba, Argentina, have signed an agreement to double the capacity of Geocycle’s waste processing plant at Piedra Blanca landfill. Inaugurated last November the refuse-derived fuel (RDF) plant currently has a capacity of 50,000tpa and the plan is to expand this to 100,000tpa. Cement consumption in Argentina increased 15.6 per cent YoY to 938,327t in February 2022 when compared with 811,697t in the second month of the previous year, according to AFCP, the national cement association. Argentina-based Loma Negra , owned by I ntercement do Brazil SA ,  reported a 37.4 per cent fall in net profit to ARS2795m (US$25.8m) in the fourth quarter of 2021. Argentina’s cement market saw a two per cent contraction to 877,200t in January 2022 when compared with January 2021 when sales reached 895,416t, reports the country’s cement association, AFCP.
