JK Cement starts commercial production from Jharli grinding unit, India01 July 2014, Published under Cement NewsJK Cement has started commercial production from its split-grinding unit at Jharli in the northern Indian state of Haryana. The 1.5Mta plant will source its raw material from both internal and external sources such as fly ash from NTPC power plant and clinker from JK Cement’s Nimbahera and Mangrol units. The new facility will help the company serve major markets like Delhi, Haryana and Punjab “more effectively and logistically,” according to a statement posted on the company’s website. |

Tunisia: Ciments de Bizerte inaugurates plant upgrade26 June 2014, Published under Cement NewsWith the inauguration of its upgraded production unit on 17 June 2014 in the presence of the country’s industry, energy and mines, Kamel Bennaceur, Tunisia’s Ciments de Bizerte has increased its capacity by 50 per cent to more than 1.5Mta. The upgrade is the result of a TND250m (US$149m) investment programme which was initiated three years ago. It includes a modernisation of the plant’s dust control systems which will lower emissions to 20mg/Nm3. |
Carthage Cement issues Provisional Performance Acceptance certificate, Tunisia06 June 2014, Published under Cement NewsThe Provisional Acceptance certificate has been issued by Carthage Cement for the 5800tpd Djebel Ressas cement plant in Tunisia, constructed by an FLSmdith-Ekon-Prokon consortium on an EPC turkney basis. The greenfield Djebel Ressas plant is the first project to be completed after the Arab Spring. According to a statement by Ekon, the plant has exceeded design figures in terms of production capacity and product quality while achieving less emissions. |
Mangalam starts production at Rajasthan unit, India29 May 2014, Published under Cement NewsMangalam Cement, part of the BK Birla Group, has started commercial production at its new cement mill in Adityanagar Morak, District Kota, Rajasthan. Steppe Cement profit rises as Kazakh market grows 13%02 May 2014, Published under Cement NewsKazakhstan-based Steppe Cement Friday reported an increase in profit and revenue in the full year 2013, as domestic demand grew by double-digit figures. Steppe posted pretax profit of US$13m for 2013, up from US$12m a year earlier, as revenue rose to US$123m from US$120.2m in 2012. EBITDA for 2013 rose to US$28.7m compared with US$24.9m in 2012.
