Cement demand in Vietnam rose 14 per cent YoY to 6,095,139t in June 2021 but decreased six per cent when compared with May 2021, when 6,469,659t was supplied to the domestic market, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). The Iranian cement market consumed 5.78Mt of cement in June 2021, remaining level with the 5.78Mt reported in May. This demand was entirely met by local cement production, which reached 6.02Mt in June while clinker production stood at 6.75Mt. Portland and blended cement shipments, including imports, in the USA and Puerto Rico, saw a 19 per cent YoY increase to 9.7Mt in April 2021, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). The leading cement-consuming states were Texas, California, Florida, Georgia and Ohio, who accounted for a combined share of 40 per cent of total shipments. Peru’s cement market expanded by 66 per cent YoY to 1.085Mt in June 2021, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Cement consumption in Spain increased 17.3 per cent YoY to 7,309,916t in the first half of 2021, according to Spanish cement association, Oficemen. Chile’s cement market expanded by 21.2 per cent YoY as 353,704t was sold in May 2021 compared with 352,817t in May 2020, according to the Chilean construction chamber, CChC. The January-May 2021 period saw an increase of 14.2 per cent to 1,789,995t when compared with 1,567,886t in the 5M20.

Swiss cement producers saw a 2.6 per cent YoY rise in deliveries to 1,168,331t in the second quarter of 2021, according to cemsuisse, the country’s cement association. Argentina's cement market expanded by 20.5 per cent YoY and by 10% MoM to 961,340t in June 2021, according to AFCP, the country’s cement association.
