Peru’s cement market expanded by 5.7 per cent YoY to 0.865Mt in June 2018 and when compared with the previous month, largely stable, according to the latest data from Asocem, the country’s cement association. Cement demand in Kenya has fallen to 1.4Mta in the second quarter of the year, according to a report from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS). Cement sales in Puerto Rico increased 17.9 per cent YoY in June 2018, representing a sixth-consecutive monthly growth. Domestic sales reached 1.23m bags (42kg/94lb), reports Esmerk Latin American News. Brazil’s cement market contracted by 20.3 per cent YoY in May from 4.503Mt to 3.588Mt (excluding imports), according to the latest data published by SNIC, the country's cement association. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement (including imports) in the USA and Puerto Rico in April 2018 increased 8.9 per cent YoY to 8.2Mt, according to the latest data by the US Geological Survey (USGS).  The leading cement-consuming states were Texas, California, Florida, Georgia and Ohio, which received some 44 per cent of total April shipments. Swiss cement sales return to positive growth

Switzerland’s domestic cement deliveries has increased 2.9 per cent YoY to 1.22Mt in 2Q18, returning to positive growth for the first time since 4Q16, according the country’s cement association, Cemsuisse. In the first half of 2018, deliveries advanced 0.8 per cent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. However, cement deliveries by rail has decreased by 0.9 per cent to 51.6 per cent of the total.

Vietnamese consumption rises 30% YoY in June

Vietnamese cement consumption has increased 30 per cent YoY to 8.71Mt in June, according to the Construction Materials Department of the Ministry of Construction. Approximately 6.91Mt was sold domestically (up 29 percent YoY), while 1.8Mt was exported (up 35 per cent YoY). Consumption in the country rose 25 per cent YoY in the Jan-June 2018 period, rising to 51.42Mt. Exports reached 15.42Mt in the six-month period, meeting 85.6 per cent of the target volume for the year.
