Holcim Indonesia recorded a decline in sales revenue of five per cent to IDR2.25trn in the first three months of the year, as volumes were down by seven per cent, reflecting the contraction in domestic demand over the period. Indonesian cement consumption fell by 3.2 per cent YoY in the January-March period, latest figures from the Indonesia Cement Association (ASI) show. Over the first three months of the year, consumption dropped to 13.63Mt compared to 14.08Mt in 1Q14. Vietnamese producer Ha Tien 1 Cement JSC (HT1) is seeking government approval to import coal from Indonesia for cement production as the market price has fallen sharply along with the drop in crude oil prices. Bangladesh, Indonesia and Taiwan were the top importers of Vietnamese clinker and cement in the first two months of this year, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade said. Indonesian cement consumption during February 2015 fell by 6.2 per cent YoY to 4.2Mt, latest data from the Indonesia Cement Association (ASI) shows. For the first two months of the year, demand declined by 1.2 per cent YoY to 9.07Mt.
