Semen Indonesia reportedly plans US$340.2m Aceh plant

Indonesia's largest cement maker, PT Semen Indonesia Tbk , plans to build a new plant in Aceh worth IDR4.5trn (US$340.2m), Investor Daily reported, quoting Corporate Secretary Agung Wiharto. The construction will start in 2016 or 2017 and the plant will have a production capacity of 3Mta, according to the report.

Holcim Indonesia is looking for IDR2.5trn (US$189.59m) in loans to refinance its maturing debts and wants to replace foreign-denominated debt to ease the currency burden, according to reports in the Jakara Post. During an annual shareholders meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday the shareholders of PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa  approved the company’s proposal to pay dividends of about IDR4.96trn (US$381.9m) or IDR1350 per share, about 94 per cent of the profits recorded in 2014. Bangladesh, Indonesia and Taiwan remained among the largest importers of Vietnamese clinker and cement in the first quarter of this year, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade. Prosperity Indonesia, an engineering company from Hong Kong, plans to build its second cement plant worth US$400m in Tuban, East Java, at the end of this year, the Jakarta Globe reports. “The second plant in Tuban will provide the domestic demand of cement. Holcim Indonesia recorded a decline in sales revenue of five per cent to IDR2.25trn in the first three months of the year, as volumes were down by seven per cent, reflecting the contraction in domestic demand over the period.
