State-owned cement producer Semen Baturaja recorded a 9.7 per cent decline in January sales volumes, due to increased rainfall and weakening commodity prices which resulted in property and infrastructure developments being delayed. Indocement sees volumes rising 6% YoY

PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa expects volumes to grow six per cent this year, reported Kontan, citing CEO, Christian Kartawijaya. The HeidelbergCement group reported cement sales of 18.8Mt in 2014, up three per cent YoY, thanks to increased capacity. The company said it will spend IDR5trn (US$391m) on capital expenditure this year. The 14th line at its Citeureup plant in West Java is expected to start operating from the third quarter of this year.

Indonesian cement sales fell by 2.9 per cent YoY to 4.5Mt in January 2015, as heavy rains affected construction activity in several areas. Most region of the country registered a drop in demand during the month. Bangladesh, Indonesia and Malaysia were the top importers of Vietnamese clinker and cement exports last year, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade said on its website.
