Vietnam exported 3.58Mt of cement in October at a value of US$141.62m, representing an increase of 24.9 per cent and 17 per cent YoY, respectively, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs. Vietnamese cement output up 10% in November

Cement production in Vietnam has increased 9.6 per cent to 8.7Mt in November 2019, according to the country’s General Statistics Office. In the first 11 months of this year, output is likely to have advanced by 7.6 per cent to 87.9Mt. In 2018 the country’s cement industry produced 90.2Mt of cement, up 9.1 per cent YoY.

Total Vietnamese cement sales reached 8.196Mt in September 2019, up two per cent YoY and one per cent MoM, according to the latest data by the Vietnam Cement Association (VNCA). Of this total, 5.537Mt was sold on the domestic market, a YoY improvement of four per cent (+7 per cent MoM), while 2.659Mt was exported. Vietnam cement sales edge down 4% in August

Total cement sales by Vietnamese producers slipped four per cent to 8.091Mt  in August 2019 when compared with the year-ago period, according to data by the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). The People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has asked the Ministry of Construction to handle some cement producers in the city due to their illegal capacity expansion, which was detected by the ministry’s inspection team earlier, according to Viêt Nam News. Cement imports into South Africa have surged by 293 per cent YoY in July and have also risen by 17.5 per cent since the start of the year. The main source for the cement came from Vietnam during June-July 2019, according to Industry Insight. Philippine-based Phinma Corp is set to invest in Vietnam’s Song Lam Cement JSC through the acquisition of preferred shares worth PHP2.6bn (US$50m). The pre-equitisation valuation of the Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) carried out by an independent auditor fell short by nearly VND1.17trn (US$50.3m), according to the State Audit of Vietnam. Luks Group (Vietnam Holdings) Co Ltd has reported a 9.7 per cent YoY decrease in turnover to HKD330.6m (US$42.17m) for the six-month period ending 30 June 2019, compared with HKD366.2m in the 1H18.
