VICEM targets further growth in 2019

Vietnam Cement industry Corp (VICEM) has reported a 10 per cent YoY increase in revenue to VND37trn (US$1.59bn) for 2018. The company also saw an 11 per cent rise in pretax profit to VND2.8trn. VICEM expects to push this even further by reaching a revenue of VND40trn in 2019. According to Bùi Hồng Minh, general director of VICEM, pretax profit is expected to hit VND3.2trn in the year ahead. China accounts for 15% of Central American cement imports

Cement consumption in Vietnam remained largely stable in November 2018 when compared with the previous year at 5.675Mt, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). The volume of Vietnamese cement exports rose 55 per cent YoY to 31.65Mt in 2018, according to the Vietnam Cement Association (VNCA). As the highest ever export value in the sector, it represents an estimated value of US$1.2bn. Vietnam sees 9% cement production rise in 2018

Vietnam is estimated to have produced 90.2Mt of cement in 2018, up 9.1  per  cent YoY, according to the latest data from the country’s government-run General Statistics Office (GSO).   The sum included 8.6Mt in December, an increase of 9.8 per  cent compared to the year-ago period.   In 2017, the country produced 85.4Mt of cement, including 7.6Mt in December, according to revised figures.

The Vietnamese Prime Minister has issued guidelines on investment for the expansion of Long Son cement plant, Thanh Hoa, and has agreed to action the second phase with two additional production lines. Vietnam is estimated to have produced 81.9Mt of cement in the first 11 months of 2018, representing a rise of 9.3 per cent YoY, according to the country’s General Statistics Office. Cement output in November increased 8.9 per cent YoY to 8.2Mt and saw a 3.8 per cent advance MoM from 7.9Mt in October.

The Vietnamese cement industry has surpassed its annual sales target of 83-85Mt in the first 10-months of 2018, on the back of high demand in global markets. Domestic cement sales in September rose 23 per cent YoY in September 2018 to 5.313Mt, according to data published by the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA).
