Switzerland sees 5% increase in cement deliveries

Cement deliveries by the Swiss cement industry increased 4.8 per cent YoY to 874,275.2t in the 1Q19, according to the country’s cement association, Cemsuisse. It follows a 2.2 per cent YoY to 834,251.6t in the 1Q18. The market expansion was driven by a 6.8 per cent rise in the sales of lower-carbon CEM II cements. PT Semen Indonesia increased revenues by 10.3 per cent YoY to IDR30.688trn in 2018 from IDR27,814trn in 2017. The company’s consolidated sales volume reached 33.153Mt, including the sales from Thang Long Cement in Vietnam. Colombia's cement market expanded by 2.1 per cent YoY in February 2019 as cement producers supplied 0.981Mt of cement, according to DANE, the country's statistics office. ENCI halts clinker production

ENCI, based in The Netherlands, has shut down its kiln after 91 years of operation. The event, which was carried out in the night of 29 March 2019, was low-key. Buzzi Unicem released its consolidated financial statement for 2018, reporting that EBITDA rose by 13.6 per cent in 2018 to EUR577m, up by EUR69m on 2017.
