Grey cement dispatches in Colombia advance by 35.2 per cent to 1.104Mt in May 2022 from 0.816Mt in May 2021, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE. UltraTech Cement stalls on plant purchase

UltraTech Cement has reportedly done a U-turn on its agreement to purchase a cement plant from Jaiprakash Associates. The 3Mta plant formed part of UltraTech's acquisition of six integrated cement plants and five grinding units from the Jaypee Group , at a total cost of INR161,890m (US$2.4bn). UltraTech Cement has reportedly paid for a shipment of Russian coal in Chinese yuan, raising questions over whether this will now become the norm. The cement producer is importing 157,000t of coal from Russian company SUEK at a value of CNY172.65m (US$25.8m). PPC reports 11% increase in revenue in FY22

PPC has reported group revenue for the 12 months ended 31 March 2022 of ZAR9882m (US$621.9m), an increase of 11 per cent YoY. Excluding Zimbabwe, group revenue was up five per cent, while revenue in PPC Zimbabwe alone advanced by 34 per cent on the back of a 28 per cent upturn in volumes.
