The Antimonopoly Committee of Uzbekistan intends to simplify the imports of cement. Cement demand in Argentina has fallen 7.3 per cent YoY to 797,926t in June 2020, according to AFCP, the national cement association. However, MoM a 23 per cent advance was reported. Argentine cement producers supplied 804,727t of cement to the domestic and overseas market, representing a 6.9 per cent YoY decrease but a 23.2 per cent increase when compared with May 2020. JSW Group reportedly set to reduce imports from China

Parth Jindal, managing director of JSW Cement, has announced on social media that JSW Group plans to reduce its net imports from China. "The JSW Group have a net import of US$400m from China annually and we pledge to bring this down to zero in the next 24 months," said Mr Jindal. In the comment, Mr Jindal referred to the clash on the border of both countries, which took place earlier in June. JSW Cement currently imports clinker from China to supply its grinding operations.

Cement consumption in Spain has fallen 17.8 per cent YoY to 1.144Mt in May as construction works halted in April due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Oficemen, the country’s cement association. Israel's Economy Minister seeks higher import tariff

Israel’s Minister of Economy, Amir Peretz, announced on Friday that he intended to raise the tariff on imported cement from 0.25 per cent to 17.25 per cent, according to The Times of Israel. However, the motion was blocked by the Finance Minister, who must approve the move. Cement consumption in Peru fell by 69.1 per cent YoY to 298,300t in May 2020, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Cement production fell by 70 per cent to 263,000t in May 2020 when compared with May 2019 but recovered considerably when compared with April 2020 when COVID-19 impacted operations at the country’s cement plants. BCMA calls for 60% cut in duties on clinker imports

The Bangladesh Cement Manufacturers' Association (BCMA) has issued a call for the government to cut import duties of clinker by 60 per cent. "We had zero sales during the countrywide closure in the last two and a half months," said Md Alamgir Kabir, president of BCMA. Cement consumption in Argentina decreased by 32.8 per cent in May 2020 to reach 648,562t, according to new data published by AFCP, the country’s cement association.
