Shree Cement Oct shipments up 12.3% YoY

Shree Cement Limited said on Tuesday its October shipments rose 12.30 per cent to 701,630t, up from 624,800ta year earlier. Total shipments during April-October period rose 26.52 per cent to 5.20Mt, up from 4.11Mt a year ago, it said in an e-mailed statement. The company has a capacity to produce 8Mta of cement at its plant in the northern state of Rajasthan.

ARM reports 33 per cent rise in pre-tax profit

Kenya’s cement-maker Athi River Mining (ARM) recorded a 33 per cent rise in pre-tax profit for its nine month trading period ended September 2009 to Sh677m, the company said in its financial statements posted at the Nairobi Stock Exchange. Islamic Republic of Iran News Network quoted the Ministry of Industries and Mines’ Public Relations office as reporting that the production was 11 per cent higher than the figure for the same period last year. India’s Aditya Birla Group said on Monday cement shipments in October rose 11.1 per cent from a year earlier to 2.82Mt. Production rose an annual 12.5 per cent to 2.934Mt, the company said in a statement.

ACC October cement production falls

ACC said that the cement production for the month of October fell to 1.71Mt compared to production of 1.74Mt in October 2008. The company ’s despatches for October slipped to 1.69Mt from 1.7Mt in the same month last year. The cumulative cement production of the company for the period from January to October 2009 edged up to 17.83Mt from 17.23Mt. The company’s despatches during the period rose to 17.81Mt compared to 17.23Mt in the year ago period.

Holcim to acquire Malaysian cement factory

Indonesian cement company PT Holcim Indonesia Tbk (SMCB) and banking syndication including Tokyo Mitsubishi as the coordinator , PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA), PT CIMB Niaga Tbk, DBS and Sumitomo Mitsui signed a loan facility deal of Rp 1 trillion (US$104.4 million). Germany’s Humboldt Wedag GmbH (KHD) will build a cement factory worth RUB18bn (US$618.2m) in northwest Russia, the regional administration said on Tuesday. Wholesale prices of building materials in Metro Manila fell 3.5 per cent year-on-year in September due to the contraction in the prices of steel and continuing decline of plywood, asphalt and fuel rates.
