Sugar Creek Planning and Zoning Commission members have formally denied Lafarge Sugar Creek from expanding its limestone mining operations. The Lafarge request included a zoning change and a special-use permit. The proposal died when the city’s Board of Aldermen said no to the zoning change. The Vietnam Cement Association has asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to suspend licensing new cement projects, as the country is facing an oversupply, state media said Monday.
