Cement sales in southern Africa fell last month, the Cement and Concrete Institute said yesterday. Sales for August fell to 1.12Mt from 1.3Mt last year – a 14 per cent drop, the institute said. However, August this year had one less sales day than August last year.

NT-Prom to build $103m cement plant in Penza region

Investment company NT-Prom is to invest $103m in construction of a cement factory in Penza region, Russia Interfax reports. The plant is reportedly to produce cement and gas concrete from sugar production wastes. The plant is to be located in the village of Ushinka in the region’s Zemetchino district, where a large sugar plant is located. Timeframes for the project have yet to be disclosed.
