New cement plant for Spain

Felix Santos Ortega has established a new company called Tucana under which a new cement plant will be built in Albentosa, Spain. Sanjay Ladiwala, President of Cement Stockists and Dealers Association of Mumbai said that the cement prices had come down in trade segment by Rs 3 per bag and Mumbai prices had come down by Rs 5-8 per bag this month. The billing rate for traders was at Rs 255 per bag while retail buyer’s rate was at Rs 265 per bag. New Zealand house-building and renovation work fell to the lowest level in almost eight years in the second quarter amid the worst recession in three decades, reports Bloomberg. Indian cement despatches up 17 % in August

The domestic cement industry has clocked a despatch growth rate of 17 per cent in August. This is in sharp contrast to the industry leaders’ estimates of 9-10 per cent. The industry despatched 15.44Mt during the month compared with 13.2Mt during the same period last month. Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) sold 10.94Mt of cement and clinker in the first eight months of this year, fulfilling 60.4% of its full-target, the corporation said on its website. Of the sum, 10.82Mt were cement and 123,000t of clinker, meeting 61% and 32.4% of its full-year targets, respectively.
