Mangalam Cement awards orders to Thermax & TDPS

Mangalam Cement, a part of the BK Birla group awarded two orders to Thermax and Denki Power Systems (TDPS) for captive thermal power plant with a capacity of 17.5MW capacity. Order for boiler has been finalized in favour of Thermax and  the order for the turbine generator in favour of Toyo Denki Power Systems (TDPS). The plant is expected to be commissioned within a period of 18 months.

Siam City Cement 2Q Net Profit down

Siam City Cement PCL posted a 9.5% drop in second quarter profit to THB694.8 million due to falling revenue.   Thailand’s second largest cement maker by output said its profit was down from THB768 million a year earlier.   Revenue dropped 5.7% to THB4.9 billion during the April to June period from THB5.2 billion last year, it said in a filing to the Stock Exchange of Thailand late Thursday.  

Former Cemex plant posts record monthly production

Sberbank to loan $62m to Novoroscement

Krasnodar region-based cement manufacturer Novoroscement has announced plans to take out a $62m loan with Sberbank, the company reports. The funds are reportedly to be loaned for three years, the interest rate has yet to be disclosed. Lucky Cement has posted PKR4.596bn net profit in financial year 2008-09 over PKR2.677bn recorded in the previous year, depicting 72 per cent growth. Vicat’s first half turnover declined by 8.8% to €962m, which represents a 12.4% reduction on a comparative basis and the EBITDA was off by 14.7% to €230m.  The net attributable profit fell by 30.6% to €89m. Kenya’s Athi River H1 09 pretax profit up 16 per cent

Kenya’s third-biggest cement maker, Athi River Mining, said on Wednesday pretax profit for the first half of 2009 rose 16 per cent to KES2.4bn (US$31.35m). The company said turnover rose by 16 per cent, with half of it coming from cement sales. Pretax profit stood at KES2.07bn in the first half of 2008.
