Russian co to build plant in Penza Region

Azia Cement plans to build a RUB8.6bn cement plant in the Penza Region, a spokesperson with the regional government said to PRIME-TASS Monday. The company plans to build the plant by the end of 2010. The plant’s production capacity is expected to be around 4Mta of cement.

India’s ACC cement shipments rise 4.1% in July

ACC Ltd, India’s largest cement maker, said on Monday shipments in July rose 4.1 per cent from a year ago to 1.78Mt. The company, in which Holcim holds more than 46 per cent, said production rose nearly three per cent to 1.78Mt.

Holcim Philippines net profit up 58% in 2Q

Holcim Philippines posted a 58 per cent growth in second-quarter profit from a year ago on the back of robust demand from large-scale infrastructure projects and low-cost housing across the country. Dalmia Cement dispatches up 14.8%

Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd sold 14.8 per cent more cement in July from a year ago, the south-focused cement maker said on Monday. Despatches rose to 380,000t in July from 331,000t in the prior-year period, the firm said in a statement. Production grew 13.1 per cent to 376,000t, it said. Dalmia has an annual production capacity of 9Mt.

Shree shipments rise 42.61%, India

Shree Cement Ltd said on Monday its July shipments rose 42.61 per cent to 830,000t, from 582,000t a year earlier. Total shipments during April-July period rose 32.62 per cent to 3.13Mt, up from 2.36Mt a year ago, the company said. The firm has a capacity to produce 8Mt of cement annually at its plant in the northern state of Rajasthan.

Steppe Cement 1H Sales Volumes Up

Steppe Cement Limited said Monday that for the half-year ended June 30 sales volume for cement rose to 442,227t compared to 412,042 tons in the first half of 2008, an increase of 7.3% year-on-year.
