Total shipments of Portland and blended cement, including imports, in the USA and Puerto Rico slipped to 9.4Mt in September 2020, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). The largest consuming US states were Texas, California, Florida, Ohio and New York, which accounted for 37 per cent of shipments. Cement dispatches in Peru rose 15.6 per cent YoY in November 2020 to 1.188Mt from 1.028Mt in November 2019, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Of the total, 1.092Mt were supplied by Asocem members. Cement sales in Puerto Rico edged up two per cent in November 2020 to 46,901t from 46,048t in November 2019, according to Sin Comillas. Cement sales in Morocco increased 6.7 per cent YoY to 1,107,370t in November 2020 from 1,038,250t in November 2019, according to the Ministry of National Land Use, Urbanisation and Housing.
