Taiheiyo Cement plans PHP15bn expansion project

Taiheiyo Cement is planning to invest PHP15bn (US$309.3m) to expand production at its plant in Cebu, Philippines. Brazil’s cement market expanded 14.5 per cent YoY in October 2020 with demand at 6Mt, according to the country’s cement association, SNIC. The southeast, the country’s largest market, saw sales increased by 9.4 per cent YoY to 2.702Mt in October, while in the northeast deliveries advanced 16.3 per cent to 1.275Mt. Saudi Arabian cement companies see combined profits rise 39%

The combined profits of 14 Tadawul-listed Saudi cement companies grew by 39.3 per cent YoY to SAR840.87m during the 3Q20, compared with SAR603.54m in the same period of 2019, according to Mubasher. The third production line of Vietnam’s Long Son Cement, based in the central province of Thanh Hoa, is expected to be put into operation in December 2020, with a design capacity of 2.5Mta, according to Vietnam News. Cement deliveries in Morocco fell 7.8 per cent YoY to 1,249,416t in October 2020 from 1,354,775t in October 2019, according to the Ministry of National Land Use, Urbanisation and Housing. Bolivian market contracts 33% YoY in August

Cement consumption in Bolivia edged up 7.4 per cent MoM from 231,662t in July 2020 to 248,852t in August 2020, according to the country’s statistics agency, INE. When compared with August 2019, demand fell 32.7 per cent from 369,520t. Cement production in domestic cement plants slipped 2.6 per cent MoM from 256,231t in July 2020 to 249,579t in August. When compared with August 2019, the drop was 30.4 per cent from 358,461t.

Chad’s Baoré plant to start up in November
