Vietnam: Binh Phuoc begins plant work

The southern province of Binh Phuoc has started work on the An Phu cement plant, with a total investment of VND4.6 trillion (US$278.8m).   Located in Binh Long District, the plant will have a designed capacity of 5,000 tonnes of linker per day, and 2Mta of cement.   Scheduled to come into operation in early 2011, An Phu plans to provide 2Mt of cement for the southern region’s market per year, while creating more than 400 jobs for provincial workers.

UK: Castle Cement could reopen kiln in October

Ketton-based Castle Cement closed the kiln at the end of June, blaming the "current economic climate", and now general manager Gareth Price says that it may be October or November before it is re-started. He said: "The stock position means we are not re-opening the kiln at the moment. "We are looking towards October or November to get the kiln back up and running." Castle Cement produces some 1.4Mt of cement a year and employs about 360 people.
