Turkish company plans new cement factory in Turkmenistan

Turkish company, Polimeks is to start designing and building a new cement plant in Jebel town,  Turkmenistan next month, according to local press reports. The plant will have the capacity to produce 1Mta of cement.     Turkmen president Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov has signed a resolution allowing the project to go ahead and Turkmennebitgazgurlushyk State Concern will conclude a contract with Polimeks for EUR180m (US$273.61m). The plant will be commissioned in May 2011.

Tonasa to build packing plants

Indonesian-based PT Semen Tonasa plans to build cement packing plants in Pontianak and Ternate.     Construction of the plants, to cost around Rp120bn (US$13m) is to start this year, said Sattar Taba, president of the subsidiary of the state owned company PT Semen Gresik.    The plants will facilitate and improve efficiency in distribution especially in Ternate in the eastern region of Maluku where demand for cement is expected to grow faster in the coming years, Taba said.

Tokyo Cement Company (Lanka) Ltd has installed new equipment at an investment of US$15m at its Trincomalee factory recently. Lafarge to invest EUR600m in six new cement plants in China

Lafarge said it will invest over EUR600m in six new cement plants in China through an agreement with Chinese equipment supplier CBMI Co Ltd.     CBMI, a unit of Sinoma Group, is to build the plants before the end of 2010. CRH’s earnings profile shifts towards Europe

CRH increased turnover by 12.0% last year to EUR20,992m and the EBITDA advanced by 16.5% to EUR2,860m.
