Ukraine Balcem net profit soars to US$70m in 2007

Ukrainian Balcem, one of the three largest cement producers in the Ukraine, boosted its net profit to UAH354.8m (US$70.35m) in 2007 from UAH43.08m (US$8.54m) a year earlier, the company said.     Balcem’s assets stood at UAH649.4 (UAH$128.7m) as at the end of 2007. Jilin Yatai (Group) Co., Ltd.says on March 7, 2008 that it has injected all the cement holdings from its subsidiaries and it into a new wholly-owned cement investment subsidiary and lifted the latter’s registered capital to CNY 2.743bn. Cement manufacturers in the United Arab Emirates have responded to a call by the Ministry of Economy to abide by the price set by the ministry in an effort to regulate the cost of construction in the country.
