Belarusian Cement Plant to go public, state will control 100% initially

Belarus’ state-run Belarusian Cement Plant, in the Mogilev Region, is expected to go public soon, Architecture and Construction Minister of Belarus Alexander Seleznev told reporters on Tuesday. The state will control 100% in the joint-stock company at the initial phase. “After that it will all depend on investors and their proposals. Jiamusi Hongji Group exports cement to Russia

Jiamusi Hongji Group recently exported 600t of cement to Russia under the name ‘Fuqing’, revealed sources at the company on June 2nd. It is the first time that a company has exported cement overseas after obtaining independent rights for import and export from Heilongjiang Province Government. The company plans to export 30,000t of cement to Russia in 2007.

Jarislowsky rejects Holcim’s bid for St. Lawrence

Hanson to impose 40% limit on GGBS content

Hanson is set to write to its ready-mix customers asking that concrete is not specified with a GGBS (ground granulated blast furnace slag) content of more than 40%, according to reports from Contract Journal, UK.   When cement shortages began to bite, the company started receiving requests for an increased GGBS content to make the available cement go further. Protective tariff on cement importation extended, Liberia

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has issued Executive Order Number 9, extending the protective tariff on cement importation in to the country. The Order suspends the protective tariff of US$2 imposed by the Government of Liberia for 50kg bag of Portland cement brought into the country for construction. Cemex SA said it now has won acceptances for 43.15 per cent of Rinker Group Ltd’s issued capital ahead of the June 22 expiry of its US$14bn offer for the Australian construction materials group. Malaysia’s third largest cement maker, Cement Industries of Malaysia Bhd (CIMA), plans to invest RM400m on expansion after plans to partner French-based cement maker Vicat Group fell through. India’s Ambuja Cements May sales up 2.7% on year

India’s Ambuja Cements Ltd  said its cement sales for the month of May grew 2.7% on-year to 1.53Mt. The company’s cement sales for January-May rose 1.8% to 7.32Mt, it said in a statement.
