Chile: Polpaico leads cement market with 34%

Chilean cement industry association Instituto del Cemento reports a 2,8% increase in the domestic market in 2006 to 4.1Mt, with Lafarge via Cementos Melon having a 33,8% share (less 1,35%); Cementos Bio Bio has a 32,2% share; the leader continues to be Polpaico with a 34% selling 1.39mil m tons of cement. Russia’s Siberian Cement output up 24% on year in 2006

Russian holding Sibirskiy Cement (Siberian Cement) produced 4.383Mt of cement in 2006, up 24% on the year, the company said Thursday.     Created in 2004, the holding controls five cement plants in the Irkutsk and Kemerovo regions, the constituent republic of Buryatia as well as two in the Krasnoyarsk Region.    

Aditya Birla January cement sales 2.82Mt

Bolu Cimento to buy Deniz Cimento grinding and packaging facilities.

Turkey’s Bolu Cimento, a cement company, has decided to start negotiations to buy Deniz Cimento’s grinding and packaging facilities in the town of Karadeniz Ereglisi. The statement sent to the ISE by Bolu Cimento also noted that the company plans to buy Deniz Cimento’s harbour facilities in the same city. 

Pakistan cement exports expected to reach 2.5Mt

Mordovcement (Komsomolskiy, the republic of Mordovia) has started constructing a new RUR10bln cement plant. On January 19, 2007 head of the Mordovia republic Nikolay Merkushkin laid the plant’s foundation stone. The company will finance the project from own funds with the support of the government of the Mordovia republic and plans to attract investments and take out loans. In a filing with stock market regulator CMVM, Semapa said that Secil, through a fully owned subsidiary, now owns 50.5 per cent of Sibline.     The total cost of buying the 50.5 pct stake was US$65.1m, corresponding to a US$128.9m equity value and a US$174.4m enterprise value.     The deal has an enterprise value/EBITDA multiple of 7.45, based on estimated 2006 EBITDA, Semapa added.     Sibline produces 950,000t of clinker annually and 1.2Mta of cement. Cement grinding plant for Kotputli

The Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) on Wednesday signed an agreement with J.K. AIC and Garadagh to sign memorandum of understanding

The Azerbaijan Investments Company and Garadagh Cement will sign a memorandum of understanding at some point in February about the former’s acquisition of up to 20% of the equity of the cement company, and the practical transaction can be started in September.
