Cimenterie Nationale pours hopes into upgraded production facility

Cimenterie Nationale (CN), Lebanon’s second-largest cement producer, is investing $100m to upgrade production, as a regional spike in prices has the sector flush with revenue. Tianjin’s Bulk Cement utilisation rate up

The Tianjin Municipality Cement Industry Association revealed announced that the output of Tianjin’s bulk cement reached 5.2Mt in 2006, of which the cement bulk rate reached 90 per cent. Tianjin used 8.3Mt of bulk cement, up by 1.3Mt over 2005 or up 18.57%, with the utilisation rate of bulk cement reaching 61.5%, 3.52 percentage points higher than 2005.

India cement sales grow 10 per cent

Driven by the central region, Indian cement sales clocked a 10 per cent growth during the nine-month period ended December 31, 2006 over a 10 per cent growth in production. According to the industry sources, sales during April-December 2006 were at 112.25Mt compared with 102Mt during the same period last fiscal. PPC will import up to 10m bags of cement to cope with demand

Cemex to raise Mexican cement prices five per cent

Cemex will raise domestic cement prices by an average of five per cent from January 15, a company executive said on Friday.    Cemex  is the largest cement producer in Mexico, its second-largest revenue source after the United States. Caspian Resources to develop Kuznetsk cement plant

Kazakhstan’s Caspian Resources holding company will invest roughly R200m in 2007 to upgrade its- controlled Kuznetsk cement plant (Kemerovo Region, Russia).   The plant was previously controlled by individuals from Moscow and Novokuznetsk. The bulk will be spent overhauling and restarting cement production line No. 4, which stood idle for the past five years. The aim is to bring cement output to 700,000 tonnes annually. Investment will also be made to protect the environment.
