Distributors concerned over INC cement shortage, Paraguay

Mexican construction industry to slow down to 4.5 per cent in 2007

Mexico’s construction industry is to expand between 5.5 and six per cent this year. However, according to estimates by Nezahualcóyotl Salvatierra. President of the Mexican Chamber of Construction Industry (CMIC), the expansion pace will go down to 4.5 pct next year, due to the world slow down and higher prices for materials like cement, steel and copper.

Indonesia’s Oct domestic cement sales down 15.2%

It has been announced that HeidelbergCement will build a new cement plant in Volsk (Saratov oblast) Russia. Deutsche Bank has apparently acted for the group and is said to be involved as part-guarantor of this project. The plans call for setting up a state of the art production facility of about 1.5Mta. CIMA says still in talks with France’s Vicat for stake sale in units

Cement Industries of Malaysia Bhd (CIMA) said it is still in discussions with France’s Vicat over the sale of shares in its units and no agreement has been concluded.    Responding to a query from Bursa Malaysia, the company said both parties have agreed that Vicat’s offer will remain valid until Dec 15.    CIMA ’will make the announcement to Bursa....should there be any further developments on this matter,’ it added.    The Star newspaper earlier reported that CIMA and Vicat have agreed ...

TCC Int’l to add production lines for $115.5m

Lafarge Shui On expects China’s cement demand will increase by 30% before 2010

Cyrille Ragoucy, CEO of Lafarge Shui On Cement, recently announced that from now until 2010, China’s cement consumption volume will increase by 30%. However, due to intense competition, approximately 40% of the 5,000 Chinese cement companies will incur losses. Lafarge Shui On plans to double its production capacity and reach 40Mt in the next few years. 

Zambian gov’t urged to extend cement incentives
