The Central Board of Revenue has restored duty drawback of Rs 25.08/t on export of cement. According to the latest statistics, as of October 2006, the sales income of China’s cement industry totaled RMB254.309bn, up 25.92% YoY. In following with the steady increase of output and sales income, the total profits also kept increasing. The total profits of the entire cement industry reached RMB10.101bn, up by 1.26 times over 2005.

Domestic cement demand is expected to reach 42Mt this year, said Burhan Evcil, board member of Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association. This translates to a 20% Yoy increase from 35Mt last year. Assocham pitches for peak custom duty reduction

New Delhi, Nov 29 (PTI) Industry chamber Assocham today pitched for lowering peak custom duties rate to 10 per cent in the Union budget for 2007-08, from the existing 12.5 per cent. Holcim Romania, the domestic subsidiary of Switzerland’s construction materials manufacturer, forecasts its turnover will reach EUR225m in 2007, Ziarul Financiar daily reports on Thursday.    "This year, we’ll witness growth by some 16-18%, above our initial expectations of 10-12%, owing to the rising consumption of cement and to the expansion of the overall construction market. Florida Rock Industries Inc, said Wednesday its fiscal fourth-quarter profit grew 14 per cent as higher product prices and a lower tax rate helped offset a weaker residential construction market.    Quarterly net income rose to $53.3m, or 80 cents per share, from $46.5 m , or 69 cents per share, in the year-ago period.
