Cement sales in Puerto Rico reached 53,570t in October 2019, representing a five per cent increase from 50,973t in October 2019, according to the Instituto Estadísticas de Puerto Rico. Peru’s cement market expanded by 6.7 per cent YoY in October 2019 as demand reached 1.089Mt when compared with 1.021Mt reported in October 2018, according to the latest data published by the country’s cement association, Asocem. Nepal’s cement demand has not been growing as anticipated, despite the country becoming self-reliant on cement, according to the Kathmandu Post. Total shipments of cement and blended cement, including imports, in the USA and Puerto Rico were up slightly to 10.3Mt in August 2019 when compared with August 2018. DRC utilisation rate remains low

The Central Bank of Congo put cement production in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at 1.842Mt in 2018. Around 1.825Mt were delivered to the domestic market. Production in the period up to April 2018 was 397,000t, of which 390,000t were sold within DRC. Therefore, the capacity utilisation of Congo’s cement plants is around 40-50 per cent according to the bank, although in February 2019 a rate of 52 per cent was recorded.
