Sri Lanka sets maximum retail price for cement

A special gazette notification has been issued by the Consumer Affairs Authority declaring the maximum retail price of locally manufactured cement in Sri Lanka at LKR1005 (US$5.53) per 50kg bag. The maximum retail price of a bag of cement that has been imported in bulk will be LKR950 per 50kg bag, and the maximum retail price of a bag of imported cement is LKR930.

Power Cement completes plant expansion

Power Cement Ltd, part of the Arif Habib Group, has completed the expansion of its Nooriabad facility, Pakistan, making the company the second largest producer in the southern region of the country. The upgraded plant installed a second production line, supplied by FLSmidth (Denmark), increasing capacity from 3000tpd to 10,700tpd. Total plant capacity now stands at 3.6Mta.

Cement demand in eastern India is expected to grow by 8-10 per cent in the current financial year despite the economic slowdown, according to industry sources. The Belarus Council of Ministers will provide a non-repayable grant of BYN8.5m (US$4.06m) to state-owned cement producer Krasnoselskstroimaterialy OJSC in 2019-20, according to BelaPAN news agency. Indian petcoke imports rise in October

India imported 809,000t of petcoke in October 2019, up more than 364 per cent from the year-ago period, according to Iman Resources. The imports were primarily sent from the US and Saudi Arabia, at 372,000t and 295,000t, respectively. Oman sent 38,000t, while 32,000t came from China.
