Fauji Foundation to sell cement firm stake

Pakistan’s Fauji Foundation on Monday put up for sale a 52 per cent stake in Fauji Cement Company Ltd. (FCCL) . FCCL shares were up 4.8 per cent at 28.25 rupees in a broader market that was down 0.4 per cent, making a 52 per cent stake worth about US$91m. FLSmidth A/S said Monday it has been awarded a contract for a cement line by Pretoria Portland Cement in South Africa. The contract is worth some DKK200 million. In addition to FLSmidth’s supply contract, the company’s other core business, FFE Minerals, has won an order for installation and supervision of the cement project. Boral to build $US55m clay brick plant in Indiana

Boral Ltd will invest $US55m to build a new clay brick plant in Terre Haute, Indiana. The new facility will produce a variety of brick sizes and colours with a capacity to produce 120 million standard brick equivalents annually. Boral expects production to commence at Terre Haute in the December 2007 quarter. CEO and MD Rod Pearse said, Boral the market leader in clay bricks in the USA, was committed to maintaining its strong performance in this key business and growing the business for value.

Chile cement sales increase

Chilean cement sales increased to 8.4 million bags in October 2005, from 7.7 million bags for the same period of 2004, Chilean Construction Chamber CChC said on December 9, 2005. Bermudan cement supplies could run dry by early next week, an industry chief warned last night. Bermuda Cement Company president Jim Butterfield predicted a "week of agony" loomed with silos at Royal Naval Dockyard so depleted workers now had to get inside and shovel cement out.
